Ryanair check in without bag

I am trying to check in for a domestic flight. same day return. no baggage required.

I am being blocked from completing process by a request to pay for xrtra bag.

My daughter suggests that I have to either, pay for a seat or pay for an xtra bag.

Is this correct does anyone know please.

That's where I started however I was then informed that I couldn't check in until 24 hrs before which is today.
 
There is probably a button for an onboard small bag for free that you are missing.
 
The 48/24 hr deadline is for inbound flight as well, so you might need to wait for a few more hours to check-in a the return flight
 
From Ryanair website

6.2. 2 Online check-in opens 60 days before the scheduled departure time if you have purchased an allocated seat. Customers can be allocated a seat free of charge if they check-in online between 24 and 2 hours before each booked flight.
 
Ok I am checked in!

I rang them and a very patient person talked me through doing it on the app as it seems my laptop may be no longer be compatible with their system.

I do return daily flights with Ryanair, check in 48 hours beforehand, select seat and no bags never an issues
