My credit card was/is full at the moment. I pay by direct debit ulsterbank to mbna. I checked Ulsterbank this morning and the direct debit had left my account, so off I went to Ryanair found myself some cheap flights and went to book them. The credit card charge was €18.00 and the booking was declined (presumably the money has left Ulsterbank on the way to MBNA but has not arrived down the information superhighway yet)
Then I went into mbna.ie to discover that the direct debit payment had not landed yet but now there is a new unposted transaction of €18.00
It might be a coincidence but I suspect Ryanair have charged the credit card fee even though the card was declined.
Can this be the case?
