Hi all!
Just to let you know (seeing as I got caught out) that when you buy two bags with Ryanair it does not mean you get 15KG per bag i.e you are not allowed 30KG...I had two bags to check in and had them under 15KG each but I was informed that it's ONLY 15KG per person...so I said to the lady even if I buy five bags online what am I entitled to...you know the answer...so beware travellers you are only allowed 15kg per person..not alot!!!!!!!!!!

At what point in the process did they damage your bags? Could the excess weight have contributed to the damage?

According to the website t&c

The Checked Baggage allowance is 15kg per person. There is no baggage allowance for infants, although a pram/buggy will be carried free of charge. Each Passenger may check-in up to 5 items of checked baggage, up to the checked baggage allowance per person (a Baggage Fee is charged for each item of checked baggage).

Can you update the title appropriately ?

AerLingus are twice as bad. They only allow 6kg hand-luggage. A bag can weigh nearly that! We got caught in Spain with 9kg and were sent all over Terminal 4 (Madrid - a huge terminal) upstairs and downstairs to check in the bag. Had food poisoning at the time too. Not pleasant, and far from happy. But I guess AerLingus are the new Ryanair, only in green.

so because you didn't read the t's&c's you claim you were ripped off.....ok

What led you to believe that you could pay for two checked bags and split the 30KG in any ratio between them as opposed to a maximum of 50:50?

I have changed the title because it seems to have been misleading.
 
Sunlife. I think you are in the minority if you thought that you could bring per bag and not per person I'm afraid.
 
sunlife I agree, being a semi-frequent RA passanger I am aware of the
policy but only through other peoples mistakes. also many people have
complained about how difficult it is to change the priority check-in,
ryanair make it difficult for most people who wouldn't be fimiliar with
their website to cancel this when booking with no bags. The 15kg option
per bag is the way the baggage system used to operate and I don't
rember hearing about the change whenever it happened. I'll bet
people quoting smallprint haven't read ALL the small print. Although
I am happy to hear that they don't charge for buggys as I be needing
one of them at the end of the year !!
 
There was a really interesting article in yesterdays sunday times (no online version anymore unfortunately) which gave numerous examples of individuals being charged for excess baggage by Ryanair when they knew they were under. In one particular case a guy had flown out (14.7Kg) with presents in the bag but on the way back, sans presents, he suddenly had a 17Kg bag. The airport in question was Girona.
