We decided we wanted to go to the RWC last week for one match. Decided on the Argentina match. Looked into the 'official' packages and they were coming in around the €1200 mark for 6am flights, 2 star hotels and category 3/4 tickets (which are the worst tickets available). I was unhappy with this so looked into booking it myself.

Got flights into Paris on the saturday at 9.25am, out of lyon with Aer Lingus for €250. Got a four star hotel using priceline for €100 per night for two nights (novotel tour eiffel). Tickets were trickier and we ended up getting them from www.ticketcity.com for €250 each, which were delivered this morning. They are category 2 tickets with a face value of €107, so its not the end of the world.

So all in, its €600 for the weekend with great flight times, fab hotel and really good tickets at half the price!!

Thats a deal in my book

Does anybody know of a good hotel in Cardiff for the quarter finals?

I know i am presuming that Ireland will finish second in the group but the likelihood if you take everything into consideration this will be one of the best match with ireland in it or not.
Kiwis v Ireland
Kiwis v France
Kiwis v Argentina

I have looked all over Cardiff and i cannot find one hotel that has a room available for Oct 5th and Oct 6th.

Anybody got any hidden gems?

Also if anybody has any tickets for sale for the game i would be interested in two.

Thanks
Bag

If you're desperate stay in Swansea and get the train down, only takes an hour (from what I remember of when I had to do it)

I booked into Bristol, got match ticket on the official web site and flights cost me €90 return.
Hotel in bristol is stg£50/night. I was looking into rail tickets (max 1 hour journey) but last train is leaving Cardiff @10pm so I may have to rent a car for trip as the match will end at approx same time

try newport i have stayed there for internationals and munster games and cheap to get a taxi to rather than having to drive.

On The Last Word (Today FM) yesterday evening, a lady from the ECC said that all official tickets will have the name of the purchaser on them and this would be checked on the way into games.

If this is the case, I would be very careful about who I was buying from, although it seems somewhat implausible that they will ID everyone on the way in.

They were supposed to do the same thing at the Ryder Cup as well...in reality it's just scaremongering to discourage touts a little bit. Even the legality of it is questionable.
I'm heading to that game as well...realistically it's going to be Ireland vs New Zealand aka Drico's revenge!

They claimed they were also going to check peoples' names in Germany during the last World Cu[p
If an efficient country cant manage it, I cant see anyone else managing

Having said that though I have tickets through Irish Supporters group and am heading off for the late group stages, cant wait!

Yes, I have heard that these rules have not been enforced in the past, but it's only fair to warn people that it could happen, even on a random basis, this time round.

Caveat emptor when buying off unofficial sources.

If you actually look at the ticket, the name of the purchaser is printed in tiny detail on the bottom of the ticket. Its actually quite hard to spot. So the chances of some french people checking tickets is non existant
