Rules for Northern Ireland clients?

Hi all,

I have a small tech service business in the Republic and would like to advertise my services to Northern Ireland. (I do photo and video editing)

Does anyone know what the tax/VAT rules apply to a service provider in this situation? I'm confused over what VAT rate I would charge or whether or not I need to somehow register with the UK revenue.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers!

Once they provide you with a VAT number you do not have to charge them VAT,

If they dont have a VAT number then you have to charge them Irish rated (21%) VAT

Thanks for the feedback. Exactly what I needed.

Cheers.

Correct you need to get their vat number so that you do not have to charge them vat. Make sure you remember to do this though before you quote and invoice them and to store it somewhere. I know from working in a company in the past that deal with ROI and NI it can be easy to forget to ask for the VAT number on the call
