We're hoping to buy our first home over the coming year and have been somewhat picky in terms of the houses we have been looking at. One of the biggest things we refuse to comprimise on is having two bathrooms. One shower/bath is fine, but we definitely want a downstairs bathroom.
We've been shown two semi-detached houses in similar estates that have one upstairs bathroom, and thats it. They are great value, but the one bathroom is bothering us. We have come to the conclusion that if we purchase either one, we'll be looking to convert under the stairs into a small bathroom. Nothing fancy, just a standard downstairs bathroom under the stairs.
I'd like to know if anyone here has done this in their own homes, and if they can tell me about the process and give us a rough idea of costs? Just average costs and approximates, as we'd like to know if we'll have the funds spare to do this work as soon as we buy to get it done and dusted. From reading some other posts (Ice had one here but it didnt cover the above) I don't think planning would be needed.
