Just wondering if many of you watched the show and what you thought of it? Thought the girl that won was a really worthy winner. She came across very well.

I do think the show is terribly dull, most of the contestants saying the same thing one after another but I did think a lot of the actual irish girls came across really well, really bubbly and lovely.

i thought the cork rose (the very first one the first night) was gorgeous and very nice/bubbly

Don't watch as I think it is a load of surreal rubbish.

However was in the room with Mrs Boris when she sarcastically said that the girls on stage really did lead perfect lives.

Enough said.:D

Its a dated show and a dated concept. That said, as long as the viewing figures on RTE stay strong the festival will continue.

I agree, I watched a bit of it but completly forgot about the final. I't s a sweet idea and I love the "old fashioned-ness" of it, the escorts and the rules. The irish girls always comes across lovely and fresh but that's the irish for you. :D

(spoken as a non- national)

Personally I prefer the Lovely Girls contest on Fr Ted.

I'll give the Rose Competition a miss until they introduce a swim suit section :D

(By the way what a strange way for your future in laws to see you for the first time as happened the winner)

Don't have any interest in the show, but while channel-surfing I happened to see the winning Rose's interview where she spoke about the travelling she'd done, where she worked and the travelling she & hubby to be hoped to do.

She then smiled and said (in a very strong Irish accent if I remember) "I'm a traveller"...at which point Ray D'arcy nearly swallowed his teeth! The camera just caught him moving away from the mic as he said "watch it you!" with a rabbit in the headlights look!
