Root Canal Treatment in North - Keep Dentist in South

Just wondering has anyone experience of going north for specialist dental treatment whilst retaining their own dentist in the south?

Have been quoted €800-€900 for Root Canal treatment in south and in north can have it done by a friend (qualified dentist - own practice) for next to nothing.

Would like to still have option of dentist in south for check-ups, fillings, emergency work etc. but am worried they might have issue with me having the expensive work carried out by someone else.

In my experience most dentists do not do root canal treatment themselves they refer you on to a specialist so it shouldn't be a problem.

Iv just been referred today by my dentist to a speciaslist for a root canal. Actually he gave me a few no's, told me to ring them re cost and speed of treatment and when I had decided on one to let him know and he would forward my details. I think you shouldnt have a problem. My prob is I cant afford 900euros...any recommendations for getting it done in north?
