We are thinking of getting married in Rome and then spending a week in Sorrento. The travel agent has recommended the SAVOY in Rome and the Ambasciatori in Sorrento. Has anyone been to these hotels? what do you think of them.

Hi, I was at my best mates wedding in the Savoy about 18months ago and it was fab. The bar is downstairs and quite small but there is a lovely rooftop terrace and on a good day the views are stunning. The reception room upstairs and can accommodate an intimate crowd. There are seperate lifts as they dont all go all the way to the top.The one thing I noticed was the size of the rooms, not huge by any means although well decorated. location is good not too far from the Spanish steps. There is a Hard Rock cafe about 5 mins away and has a good atmosphere, its a good place close to have a drink or two, we also went to Scholars and it was jammed, great craic. The ladies got their hair done and the lads also gort a decent barbers close by. good restaurants close by. Taxi from Da Vinci airport about 40 quid for 4 people. Driver thought he was at Monza !

I would recommend the Savoy, it has a 4 star rating. I booked flights and hotels etc independently - hotel I got a great rate on GVA hotels.com and got cheap flights with A lingus out and Ryanair back. Total 400 euro
some who booked with specialist wedding travel agents paid at least 2-3 times that, months in advance. Enjoy !

i got married in rome in 2006, some family members stayed in the savoy and loved it, we then went to sorrento and sicily for honeymoon, we stayed in the grand hotel riviera which is next door to the ambasciatiori, the grounds of the hotel are lovely, some family members stayed there for a week while we were in sicily in the ambasciatiori and they loved it, nothing but good things to say about it.... they even went back
