Rohs and CE standard light fittings

Looking to import some light fittings from China which are CE Standard. Im told that there is a new European law which states lights imported must be ROHS standard.
Can anyone shed some light (excuse the pun) on this, as to what the deal is with customs, as these are for personal use only and not for reselling. It seems ROHS are made with non toxic materials.
