Has anyone been to Rodez for a weekend? Wondered as havent been to that part of France? Is it worth going there for a weekend? Ryanair have recently put on flights to there from Dublin. Or would Carcassonne be a better weekend destination .........

Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.

I spent a week in Carcassonne last September renting at [broken link removed] The French couple who run this rental will collect you and drop you back to the airport. While we were there they rented out one of their apartments for the weekend so it is not confined to weekly rentals. Carcassonne is worth a few days, a week a little long. There is a good train station where you can visit Narbonne for the day. You can also take an €8 trip along the Canal du Midi of two hours duration. The Citie is really lovely with lots of restaurants offering very good Menu del Dia's for about €14 per head, wine included. If you choose Rodez let me know how you get on it's on the list.....
 
Looking at the Tripadvisor website - there isn't a lot of activity on the Rodez forum - which indicates there aren't many visitors / not much going on. Also seems to be a car hire job.

Carcassonne is also a car hire destination, IMO.
 
Nyone know of any interesting town within an hour from Rodez that we might visit on a day trip if we were based in Rodez?
