Best thing about Riverstown undoubtedly its proximity to Sligo. Otherwise nothing in the place, but I recall a few years ago a news story that everyone in the village was putting money into a co-op to develop some tourist infrastructure -- can't remember exactly, think it was a heritage centre, maybe someone knows. Anyway, it pointed to a community that was interested in (a) working together and (b) putting the place on the map. If you have to live in a rural area near Sligo, sounds promising enough.
I would reckon though that an outsider in any small place like that will always be an outsider, at least for a generation.
