Hi there,

My local shop which seems to have a policy of overcharging is now going down the route of selling multipack drinks individually even though there is a big yellow sticker on the bottle noting it's part of a multipack and should not be sold individually. Apart from saying it to the management, which I have, and have pulled them up a fair few times for overcharging me, who else can I notify. It's not as if I can shop somewhere else as the next nearest shop is a few miles away.
Any help appreciated

You mean they charge more than the displayed prices or they don't display prices? If so then report them to the [broken link removed]. If you mean that they charge prices that you consider too high then try not to shop there. Perhaps do a bulk shopping run to a more remote but competitive outlet?

I'm not sure if this is illegal as it's the supplier/manufacturer who usually marks multi-packs as not for individual sale. However check with the ODCA and report them to the supplier/manufacturer to see what they say on the matter.
 
They charge more than advertised price, especially with special offer items, it has happened too often for it to be an accident, they also sell out of date fruit salad etc.

Report them to the FSAI or local health inspector.

Obviously you should also complain to the management but it seems that you have already done this. Have you considered my suggestion about doing a bulk shop somewhere further afield but more honest/competitive/reliable?
 
I doubt if it's illegal to break up multi-packs, but it might well be forbidden by their deal with the supplier. But why is this a problem for you? If it is, then report them to the supplier

In many cases if they break up multi packs , the individual items wont have a full list of ingredients , best before date or alergy warning . Not sure to whom they can be reported .
These shops are in heaven , super margens and the most docile consumers in the "1st world" , there is no need for them to be so greedy!

The problem is, they are not selling multipacks, so if I want 3 bottles of Coke I have to buy 3 individual bottles which as you know costs more than the multipacks.
 
forgot to mention I have reported them to supplier but just wanted to know if there was a govt. body I could lo report them to.
 
Contact the Office of Consumer Affairs. They deal with that sort of issue including failure of shops to show their prices. You can shop the offenders at 1890 220 229

Not always as mentioned in other threads on the same issue - sometimes multipacks are dearer than buying the individual items. I have never seen items sold in multipacks that lacked the same nutritional labelling and expiry date information that the equivalent individual item so I'm not sure that that is a valid concern. Caveat emptor.
 
This is not a "rip-off"...just vote with your feet. If the guy is charging prices which are too high the market will soon sort him out.
Convenience Stores are as the name suggests "convenient", around the corner. If you want cheaper prices, go to Tesco.
A rip-off is selling sub-standard or faulty product, not charging more than a competitor.
