I bought a leather sofa in an auction by a furniture store. The leather has started to crack and peel apart. Wken I contacted the shop they say I have no rights to a remedy because the goods were bought at auction. Is this the case?

"Your rights when buying at an auction are different from buying goods in a shop. Auction items are usually “sold as seen”. This means that they are sold with any faults, they have no guarantee and you are not entitled to a replacement or a repair.
So if you are interested in an item, it’s always a good idea to inspect it thoroughly during the viewing time before the auction starts, as the auction house will not guarantee the item against faults or imperfections."

The sofa looked pefect when I bought it. I actually got two the same and there are no problems at all with the other one. So seems like I'l just have to grin and bear it. Ah well another lesson learnt.
