REVENUE - 'verification' for self employed

I note that the surge in use of the Revenues ROS has now lead to a newly created bureaucracy in Revenue.

Apparently they are asking folk wil refunds due to 'verify' details of their income.

Specifically P60s ..and amazingly enough, this should be the same details on P35's supplied by the issuer of the P60 in the first place.

Magic!! Another level of useless 'audit' from Revenue!

Not sure this is accurate. I recently processed my 2003 return through ROS and received my repayment in approx 10 days without being asked to verify anything. In my opinion it is a super system.

This is done only on the basis of random sampling of a small minority of cases. It is part of the Revenue's processes for audit of returns. In the vast majority of cases it will cause very little inconvenience to those affected.
