Revenue gives people to end of March to pay LPT

The Revenue Commissioners is to give individuals who have not paid the property tax or household charge until the end of March to comply with the levies.
The tax authority said there is now a six week window for people to pay the outstanding amounts before interest and penalties will apply.

Revenue says it will begin its compliance campaign from the beginning of April.

People who have not complied by 31 March will have interest back dated to 1 July 2013. It will charge tax of 8% per annum.

What's the relevance of the 1 July 2013? Is that the due date for 2013 tax?

Just to enquire for a relative of mine on the state pension who hasn,t paid the property tax due to inability to pay, I filed the LPT return online on behalf of relative and clicked on the deferral option last May, the 2013 and 2014 LPT is deferred for the person in question, now with the new deadline by end of march 2014 to pay outstanding LPT does it mean the deferral option no longer stands and everyone who has unpaid LPT gets hit with 8% Interest with penalties or only people who Ignored LPT letters ?

From the 9 o clock news the 1/7/2013 applies to 2013 tax and 1/1/2014 applies for 2014 tax.
