Revenue extends LPT deadline following late surge.

That's fantastic.

It acknowledges that problems may arise with online registration and or phone applications.

I thought it a bit odd that they did not accept paper payments late.

They should remove as many barriers and excuses as possible.

In fairness meepman they have only extended online registration by one day.

Cashier,

That would be fine.

I would have no difficulty with that as somebody who has paid on time.

I would have difficulty if people paid later than one month for this year only.

I think after that penalties should then kick in. I would be tougher on the deadline next year and following years.

What was the point paying early if they were going to extend it?

There was never any point in paying early.

It is only the registration date that has been extended. Payment is not due until 21st July 2013.

I am surprised they did not extend it further- say by a week and go on an advertising blitz showing daily figures complying.

There is nothing to scare people into complying like the thought that they will be left isolated and the only ones in default.

It more acknowledges that people don't bother until the very last moment and then give out if there is a problem. It's not like there wasn't about 2 months or so to register.
But maybe me experience was different.

I registed on time, yesterday, and my payment will not be taken until 21st July so there's nearly 2 months to go yet for the actual payment.

I registered online a month ago and wanted to avoid the CC fee so paid by visa debit and the money was taken straight away. Was there an option to just register and pay at a later stage ?

When you register to pay via debit card, I think you have the option to input a payment date - if you don't input a date it takes it immediately.

I paid this afternoon, so I'm an LPT compliant citizen now :) The debt card payment was very instantaneous. I opened my banking on line window beside the revenue one after paying and the payment showed up in my account.

Smooth.

As I outlined in this thread, http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=179097, (post 7) when you put in debit or credit card, a little pop up appears that says this options means payment is immediate.

Therefore I put in a 'single debit authority' and that said it will be taken on the 21st July, but there I had the options to give a date earlier.

Richinspirit, I'm wondering why you put in a credit card when it takes the money immediatly and you would have nearly another 2 months credit if you used the bank account option?

Hi Bronte. I used Visa debit, I don't have a credit card any longer. And maybe never again.

I didn't really know about having more time to pay it. I just wanted to get the whole process finished with. :)
