Revenue and Bank Accounts

Hi,

Can anyone advise for definite of the following.

Do the revenue have access to your personal bank account if they want to. If they want to query anything - can they access all your bank transactions without you knowing. It just sounds a little bit intrusive to me when you are a law abiding citizen.
Anyone know - please advise
 
I don't think so without a court order or a CAB investigation or something similar.
 
They can and have requested banks to provide this type of info and the banks can and should refuse. They can then get a court order if they can show due cause and prove to the judge that it's not a "fishing" expedition.

In any case the bank should inform you that they have been approached.
