Returning to work...

Afternoon,

I am returning to work on a contract basis in the next couple of weeks. I have been on JB since Dec '08.
The job in question is low paid, but I feel I need to take it to a)secure my sanity and b) it looks better on cv to keep the finger in as I am out of work 7 months.
My question is what do I have to in regard to The Revenue. Will my employer look after this? Is my P45 relevant as it was from 2008? I do have a Tax Balancing statement for 2008 do I give this to my employer?
Secondly, the job in question will pay €10ph and I will work a 40 hour week am I exempt from Tax or am I just over the threshold?

Many thanks

Sorry I didn't mention that I was a single person with no dependants

You need to inform revenue of your new employment. Get your new employers reg no first. Revenue will then forward you and your employer your tax credits, you do not need to produce your 2008 P45 or P21 to your new employer. Unfortunately you will probably pay tax, taking you are single on a single persons allowance. You will also be paying the income & health levies of 2% & 4% respectively.
Good luck in the new job!
