After 10 years working in the UK, I plan to return to live in Ireland in July this year. I will continue to be employed by my UK employers with whom I have spent the past 10 years. My questions are:
1. I understand that if I am resident in Ireland for less than 183 days in 2006, I will not be resident here for tax purposes in 2006 - is this correct?
2. Since the UK tax year is 04/2006 to 04/2007 and if I return to Ireland in July 2006, that would mean that I would also not be tax resident in the UK so would I have to pay tax anywhere in 2006?
3. In 2007 - how would my tax situation be dealt with by my UK employer?
All advice appreciated.
