Hi..I´m Irish,born, raised I´ve been living in South America since 1996, i used to claim social welfare before leaving ireland.. if i go back to Ireland i won´t have a place to stay nor a job..can i get unemployment benefit?
 
It's complicated. You need to satisfy a habitual residence condition. For you that'll mean that you basically need to demonstrate as far as possible that you are back for good.

I would think having a roof over your head and a mailing address will be the main priority? Will you stay with family or friends when you come back. Sounds like you maybe haven't planned out the logistics of a possible return yet and that would be advisable.
