return/refund policy

hi all

I bought something from a concession area ina large department shop. It didnt fit so I wanted to return/exchange it. I went to my local branch of the same large shop, the customer service rep refused to exchange/return it as that branch did not have that particualar section/concession.

I then went to my local branch of the independent "concession" shop but they refused also as the receipt has the name of the orginal large department shop.

I can go back to the orginal shop but its much more awkward to get to and I'd have to wait until weekend again etc.

Can they do this? My thinking would be that seeing as the garment was bought in the orginal shop and has that name on the receipt that they would have to honour their own (large shop) refund/exchange policy??

Yes, they are under no obligation to refund under these circumstances.

Agree with the above. No shop will take returns for another store/branch.

Not even large supermarkets will do it, or so I have found.

In my experience, some shops will allow you to do this but they are not obliged to.
