Hi There,

We bought a Stoves range last september and it keeps acting up on us. First time the extractor wasn't working and is still not working great. As it doesn't even extract the steam of one large boiling pot when on the full extraction setting. The service guy(From Dimpco) that came out says thats as good as it gets, but i dont believe him. I thought an extractor working properly could hold a paper towel but this doesn't and only extracts a small amount of steam.

Anyway the gas rings constantly fail to keep lighting and this has happened twice now. The store says to wait to see what the service guy says but we would prefer to exchange it at this stage as its causing serious bother and totally unreliable.

The shop is saying that they can't exchange/refund without the approval of the service guy but i thought our contract was with the shop that we bought it from.

Any ideas what our rights are in this case? and what we should do?

Your statutory entitlement is to a refund, replacement or repair. It may be that the retailer is entitled to take this approach. Maybe contact the NCA on www.consumerconnect.ie to see what they have to say?

They are talking rubbish. You need to keep track of the number of contacts / visits you have had from the repair guy and be able to state that their attempts at rectifying faults have failed. You should get a copy of his repair reports as well as he is working on something that you own. Get him to commit his "as good as it gets" comments to paper.

Is the extractor piped out to an external vent?

The Extractor ius piped directly out to an external vent. The stove is placed on an external wall...

I will get all the reports from the maintaineance guy. And wea re keeping a record of the callouts. the callout this week is going to be the third in 5 months. We only go a few weeks without a problem.

Thing is we only use the cooker moderately as there is only 2 of us there at the moment and so far we have only used the gas rings and one oven.

So i am not very happy that with such minimal use that they are all these issues.
