Hi all,

Getting married in a few months and will be "moving" into her house. Both houses are next to each other and would like to keep my room as I have "rent a room schemes"

What is the legal side of this? do I have to give up my owner occupier status or can I retain it.

Thanks,

Why the "quotes"? You either are or aren't. Either way a married couple can only have a single jointly held PPR so...

... this is not a runner if you are "actually" moving in with your wife.

Once married the two of you can only have owner occupier status on a single jointly shared property.

As both houses are beside each other (semi-detached I assume), would it be possible to put a door in the party wall and make it one property?

I accept this would be a problem later on when selling.
