I refused to buy a property in the past because it was no.13. Not really because I was particularly superstitious but because I was worried that if we wanted to rent or resell in the future we might alienate part of any potential market.
I have worked for builders in the past in housing and apartment complexes and we would just skip the number 13, so the houses went 10, 11, 12, 14 and so on. In some estates you can find 10, 11, 12, 12A, 14 etc..
We bought a No 13 during the boom...got a great house at a good price...probably cos it was 13...never anything bad happened in it and we were very happy in it.
We moved to a rented house temporarily where the proevious owner had commited suicide in the basement.
I was in the house for a number of months on my own...never bothered me....but apparently the new tenant is having a freak attack about it.
Happily back in No 13...great house, great neighbours.
