Replacing front door

My brother bought his house from the council about three months ago - the front door needs to be replaced as it seems to have warped among other things. It will cost over 1,000 euros to get a new door (PVC). Can he claim for a new door off his house insurance.

Household insurance does not cover "wear and tear". I dont think he would be able to prove that it was anything else.

I doubt if it's covered but the only way to be sure is to call the insurance company. By the way it doesn't have to be replaced with a PVC door. Why not replace with a nice timber door?

i recently got a new teak front door. It looks wonderful and is hardwearing. Expensive, but worth it.
