Has anyone any experience of replacing fogged up glass in patio doors. Got a quote for 550 euro . Guy says he would use lighter glass than that in the doors at present as he believes it is too heavy!! Suggested using 4mm toughened K energy units?? (6mm laminated in it a present). Anyone know know about such ratings. what is recommended for patio doors?

Hi Paddylast,
sorry to read about your problem. We had the same issue but the supplier replaced the faulty units as he said they were not sealed properly. Hope this helps browtal

How old are the doors? Double glazing does go foggy after a while due to the seals eventually wearing away. Im told this shouldnt happen though for at least 10 years or so.

Hi Paddy. What he's suggesting sounds right but the quote sound expensive. One glass unit or two?

Computerman is right in what he says but make sure you get the measurements bang on. I doubt if you'd get a patio door double glazed unit for €90 though.

When I have to replace the units on my rented stuff I pay on average 90 per window. On one occassion i had to pay 120 (november last) but that was for a tinted pane in a front slider door.

Units for patio doors would be bigger though unless of course you have very big windows
