Replacing chimney with fake

Hi,

We are looking to remove a chimney to create more internal space. We want to keep the part of the chimney that sits on the roof. We have located a UK company that specialises in replica "fake" replacement chimneys. I assume that if the replacement chimney tower, is visuallly the same as the original, we won't be in breach of any planning regulations. Does anyone have any thoughts on this ?

Why would you want to keep a fake chimney on your roof? Is a requirement of your local planning regulations?

I would have thought that you would simply be storing up future problems for yourself, especially if you live in an area which is windy.

I would suggest that you talk to your local planning people to find out the answer to your question and if they say that there is no problem, then do without the fake bit and simplytile /slate over the opening in the roof to match the existing.
