Replacement car key for 96 Micra

Hi all,

my one and only key for my 96 Nissan Micra has a small crack so i want to get a replacement. I rang a Nissan dealership who require a few bits of paperwork before they'll give me a copy. Is there any way around this or is the dealership the only way to get a replacement?

Thanks a mil for that towger, i rang them and it'll be €100 but at least i don't have to go gathering paperwork!
