I've started looking into replacing my 50W Halogen MR16 spotlights in my bathroom. There are four of them each running on their own 12V Transformer.

What do people think is the best approach? Use the Philips retro-fit bulbs? Replace the transformers with LED Drivers? Move to GU10 fittings or stay with MR16?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Replacing with mains GU10 fittings will allow you use low energy LED bulbs. The Philips Master LED lamps are good and ~€10 each from an electrical wholesaler.

+1 on Leo's post. GU10 fittings are really sturdy and GU10 LED bulbs are reasonably cheap, and you get rid of the transformers.
However, if you will have to pay someone to do the re-wiring then you might not get your money back anytime soon. Might be more cost effective to just downsize the 50W to e.g. 20W bulbs which should still give plenty of light but safe some money.
If you are in or around an Ikea you might want to check out the LED bulbs offer as well (GU10, haven't seen any MR16's there).
I would not "waste" money on 12V MR16 LED spots due to not getting rid of the transformers as they are harder to find than the GU10's (hence potentially relatively more expensive).
