Does anyone know if its possible to do a repeat leaving cert in just two subjects? i.e. Higher Level Irish and Maths.
Ive tried googling but my pc keeps lockiing on the sites that pop up.
Somewhere near D11 hopefully.

Thanks

Yes - I am planning to resit Higher Level Irish this year on its own. You cannot combine points though - "The six best results, in recognised subjects, in one Leaving Certificate Examination will be counted for points computation." http://www.cao.ie

I would highly recommend the Institute of Education (Leeson St) http://www.ioe.ie for repeat students, though they are expensive. You can then sit the exam in your local secondary school.

Not sure where in Dublin 11 you are, but maybe is near you?

Thanks for that. Im planning on a return to College as a mature student in a couple of years, after I get the two honours in Higher subjects.
I wont be applying through the CAO. I was in Croker on Friday and the representative from the college said I could do it this way. Im going to ring them myself and verify it.
Shouldve just studied way back when and I wouldnt have this problem. Damn Pink Floyd and Another Brick in the Wall!!:) I took it too literally.

Why dont you check out the Institute of Technologys they offer an access course for mature students, I dont even think you need a leaving cert to do this course, you attend lectures in the morning for the academic year covers a cross range of subjects Business, IT etc. If (when) you pass this you are accepted onto a main line course in the Institute. You can work in the afternoons weekends etc or if you are drawing social welfare you can keep drawing it for the year while you complete the course. It is basically a back door onto courses. Most Institutes have an Access Officier. Good luck

The course Im interested in is primary school teaching in St.Pats College in Drumcondra. I went into Croker and spoke to the nice woman there and she advised me that I needed the honour in Irish at Higher Level and another honour in any other subject. I asked her about the access course but she said it wasn't what i needed.
I rang the college yesterday and am awaiting a return call.

Redbhoy, years ago I repeated some subjects in Plunketts Whitehall in the evening.....If u can afford it though, I'd say the Institute in Leeson St is the place to go!

Redbhoy, best of luck with St.Pats whichever route you choose..

FYI, the Institute run an evening class in honours Irish with exactly this is mind [broken link removed]

Also, not sure why you were advised to do honours Maths? IMHO, honours Maths would be a particularly difficult subject to take in conjunction with Irish. In St.Pats the entry requirements are C3 in 3 honours subjects, C3 in honours Irish, C3 in pass English/D3 in honours English, D3 in Maths (honours or pass).

Thanks for that.
stephnyc!
Sorry, I wasn't told to do Maths. Its just a subject Im fairly good at and would have an interest in. Either that or history. The girl didnt advise me on any subject. That was my choice!
I'll check out with the institute regarding that course!
