Hi all
An elderly relative has fallen behind on mortgage repayments. He only owes €15k on a property which he would probably get max €100k for - but the bank has sent a threatening letter. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and this mortgage business is causing him stress that he does not need at the minute. He is afraid that the bank will move on taking his house (as they may well stand to gain more from the house sale than from the €15k he owes?).
Can he negotiate with them on account of his illness? Would he have a good case for putting off or reducing payments?
