repair of playstation?

My brother has a Playstation that needs repair. The laser does n't seem to be reading the disks. Anyone know where it can be fixed? He is in the Limerick area.

He got it as a present from a friend in England (over a year ago) so its not so easy to take it back to where it was bought. Also its chipped whether that makes any difference to getting it repaired.

Try cleaning the laser pick-up with a DVD cleaner.
You could also open it up and swab the laser eye with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and leave to evaporate before use.
