Hi all,

I am a homeowner, 4 bed house.. looking to rent out two double rooms. Recently my bf moved in and I also have two house cats. I am just wondering if anyone would considering moving in bearing in mind the boyfriend and cats.

I did have a housemate who didnt like cats at the beginning, but in the end she ended up letting them sleep on the bed with her..!! Unfortunately she lost her job (recession again) and had to move back to her homeplace.

Any advice..

Thank you

Some tenants will be put off by both boyfriend and cats! It might take you longer to find a tenant but I would say you will still succeed in renting out rooms, you might need to lower rent to make it more attractive. Will you and your boyfriend both be around every evening and weekend? That could be annoying for tenant but they will know the situation before they move in.

Similar situation here.. I advertised on Daft and explained bf was living here plus 3 dogs - 2 outdoors, 1 indoors.

Only rented 1 double room (with their own bathroom). Took a little while but got a lodger who happens to love dogs. Reduced the rent as bills can be split 3 ways now.

Had an enquiry from a girl who had her own cat and was looking for accommodation, but explained that it wouldn't work with 3 dogs!

Good luck.

So long as you are upfront in your advertising, I reckon you'll have no trouble finding housemates. You'll probably find someone who loves cats, hasn't been able to have one of their own due to restrictions in their rental agreements, but will be very happy to share yours. Best of luck.
