We are new landlords, can you get direct payments to you account from the social, we never saw this on the the form our tennants had shown us? Chippy

we have had social welfare tennants for the past while the rent cheque goes directly into their name. i ended up having to collect the rent each week as we were having problems with them paying it. i rang social welfare to see if they would pay it directly into our account and was told it couldnt be done. really bad system!!!

my wife & i rent our house & social welfare pay direct to landlord ( our choice), the form the social issue each year asks if you want the rent paid to yourself or direct to landlord. hope that helps

Rent Supplement may be paid directly to Landlords but it's not automatic and doesn't happen everywhere around the country. You can ask the CWO (or ask your tenant to ask him/her) to have it paid to an account.

The reason it's not done automatically is because in the past a number of landlords have assumed that direct payment constitutes a form of contract between them and the HSE (which it doesn't), so have tried to seek compensation for damage done by the tenant.
