I currently have rental income and am registered as a sole trader and am therefore paying class s prsi. Does anyone know if this rental income is classed as insurable employment (I have no other income) in order that I can claim maternity benefit.

Thanks

I would imagine that it is class S, can't really see how rental income could be employment.

Unless you had a company structure, treat yourself as an employee and paid yourself a salary. Look up umberella structures - some companies specialise in providing these to cater just for your scenario and turn a class S into a class A.
