Hi All,
has anyone looked at the retrofit scheme for a rental apartment? I looked at the SEAI site and couldn't see the 50% saving claimed.

Hi Clubman,
I looked at this and the grants look very small compared to the headlines, am I missing something?
I would like to do internal insulation, triple glazed windows and a heat pump system if possible!

Throwing subsidies at a problem tends to increase the price - most of the benefit goes to the suppliers and not to the purchasers.

Hopefully there will be systems in place to prevent this - only joking

True prices will likely rise, excluding materials prices which are are on the increase anyway, a shortage of qualified tradespeople will limit supply below likely demand levels. That said though, unless the price doubles, the consumer will still benefit.

The grants, albeit at lower levels have been around for years though, is there evidence of prices increasing significantly?

Economics 101 says it does. Any subsidy tends to increase demand because the number of people who were prepared to purchase at the unsubsidized price is less than those who are willing to purchase at a subsidized price. And when demand increases, price does too. Particularly, when there are supply side constraints in terms of capacity, which there certainly are, at least in the short term.
