Rent supplement query

Hi
Can somebody tell me whether a 19 year old student in full time education counts as a 'child' for the purposes of applying for rent supplement. The limits are different depending on the amount of children living with you. I have one toddler and my daughter is in college full time with no job and fully supported by me, I am a single parent.
Can I therefore apply as a parent with 2 children?

Generally speaking, for the purposed of social welfare, children/dependants are regarded as those under 18 or under 22 if in full time education. I suspect you would qualify for 2 children but would advise to double check with your CWO.

Are you receiving a qualified child payment in respect of the 19 year old on your social welfare payment?

If you are, then they will definitely be counted as a dependent.

Thanks guys. I receive FIS for 2 children as she is in full time education so I guess it follows that she would count for rent supplement, I hadn't thought of that! I didn't want to apply only to be turned down flat if I was outside the limit upper rent limit (as I would be if only one child counted).
Thanks for your help.
