Rent Supplement For Married Couple!

Hello, Was just wondering if I am entitled to rent supplement or any other benefits?

I work 30hrs and earn 439.69euro per week, And my wife works 24hrs and earns 207euro per week.

At the moment we are currently living with my parents in a small box room, And my wife is 4months pregnant and we really need to get something sorted out before the baby comes along as its hard enough living here for both of us as it is with the lack of space and privacy, Never mind how much more difficult it will be with a new born baby.

We have also recently sent in all the forms to be put onto the housing list, And will be going into see someone with the eastern health board next week, So just trying to get as much information as possible..

Have been looking at the renting around the area (Dublin 7), Ideally we would both like a house and really do not fancy living in an apartment/flat, But do not think we could afford the rent (700-900) plus all the other bills that go with it, I also have a loan with the credit union and credit card bills (nothing too big) to deal with, And most importantly the baby on the way who needs to be looked after..

Starting to panic here thinking of all the bills, And it will be even worse when my wife takes 6months maternity leave..lol..

I am sure I am not the only one with this problem and would welcome all the advice and information anyone has to offer, Have checked the Welfare.ie but cannot make any sense out of it, My head is melted..

Thanks in advance for any help given, Cheers!!

Ally,
As you work 30 hrs pw, you are considered to be in full time employment and neither yourself or your wife will be eligible for Rent Supplement, regardless of your income.

Even if that were not the case you would be unlikely to qualify based on the incomes you stated, as your incomes would be assessed against the equivalent SWA rate for 2 adults which is currently 326.10 euro pw.

yes gipimann is right but you may qualify for family income supplement after baby comes

Cheers guys, That has answered a few questions for me..
