Rent relief in shared ownership situation??

Hi all,

I have an apartment under the shared ownership scheme where I rent half from the corpo and 'own' the other half. I am currently getting rent relief but am not sure if it is a hangover from my renting days or whether or not I'm actually entitled to it under my current situation which is partial renting.

Of course I'm afraid to ask revenue in case I owe them any money.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't want to fiddle the revenue but if I'm going to be hit with a big bill for overpayments of relief then I need to prepare myself!

To the best of my knowledge rent relief is not available under the shared ownership scheme. My understanding is that is is only available where a market level rent is paid and this means, according to the legislation, the private rented sector. This is the case according to Revenue guidelines in any event - not too sure about the legislation though.

Thanks C1966. Oh dear, it looks like I'll be living on beans and toast for the foreseeable future.
