hi

i am just wondering about how you go about claiming rent allowance and how long you can back date it for? i have been on the welfares site but its not that clear. is it a case of just filling out some form on line??

Drop into you local health centre and talk to the cwo...he/she will give you the forms to fill out.its usually process pretty fast if everythings in order.i dont know much about it.im at present going about the same thing.

local health centre, no idea where that is but ill have a look. what do you mean exactly, something like a social welfare office?

i thought it was something that could be done online but obviously not.

whats you location. different health centers for different areas.are you a single parent . i have a post below yours.theres 2 people that replied to my post who know a fair bit about it all.im trying to get ra sorted out also. nope.cant be done online.if you need a house or apartment http://threshold.daft.ie all houses and apts accept RA
 
call this number 2843579 they will give you all the info you need.Good luck.its very confusing i know.but im sure worth it in the long run.

Just to point out that the phone number quote above refers to a specific Community Welfare Office in an area of Dublin - it is not a general enquiry office for the whole country (it was posted in reply to a specific query for that area).

Anyone enquiring about Rent Supplement should contact their local Community Welfare Officer at the nearest health centre. You'll find a list of health centres [broken link removed]

I was only saving someone from getting an earful if they rang the wrong office looking for information
 
the people in that office are very plesant and extreamly helpful.doubt if he would get an ear ful
