The booklet at the end of this website will give you advice on qualifying for Rent Supplement

[broken link removed]

Note that in order to qualify for Rent Supplement you must have either been renting privately for 6 of the past 12 months, or have been assessed by your local authority as having a housing need.

There is a minimum contribution of €24 per week which every person/family on Rent supplement must pay themselves. As you have additional income (from your wages) you may have to pay more than this.

How much are you earning from your part-time work? Also, do you have any travel expenses to get to work? Do you get any maintenance from the child's other parent? All of these factors will affect how much you have to contribute towards your rent.
