Rent Allowance on TFA

Quick question that hopefully someone can help me out on. I'm currently living on my own in my own home. My girlfriend & I have decided that she should move in with me. Can she claim Rent Allowance on her TFA for paying rent to me as I can get approx 7k rent under the Rent a room scheme? Basicaly I know this is possible if a friend was to move in but would the Revenue have an issue with this as she is my girlfriend?

Thanks,

On the face of it I can't see why not assuming that she will actually be paying rent and you can account for this if necessary (i.e. you don't just tell Revenue that this is the case even if it's not). After all, in the eyes of the law/Revenue, you are technically unrelated strangers as an unmarried albeit soon to be cohabiting couple. Of course I could be wrong as I am not a tax expert. The easiest way to find out might be to inquire directly with Revenue about this.

Thanks guys. I heard in the past that Revenue/Gov can operate double standards in relation to co-habiting couples. i.e. when it suits them. Nice to know alls above board.
