Hi,
I'm going to view some places for rent, and I am just wondering if I like the place and decided I wanted it, what do I do then?
I will be applying for rent allowance, I have the deposit saved up, I have been assessed by the Local Authority I have 66 points, so where do I go from there?
Do I see the CWO before I agree with the landlord, do I need to bring any forms with me to the viewings?
Any Advice will be appreciated.
Thank You.
The landlord must complete part of the application form so you need to have the form before you make any decisions.
You should also check that the rent is below the maximum limit allowed for the county and your family size.
You will also need evidence of your place on the housing list - you may already have this.
I would suggest that you talk to the SWA officer in your area, or contact the central rent unit (if rents are dealt with centrally rather than locally in your area) before making any commitments.
Thank You very much for the fast reply
I have checked the rent is within the limit for my family size, I will print the application form of now for the rent allowance and I have a the letter from the housing authority stating my the points I received from assessment.
Thank You Again.
You will also need the general SWA application form (SWA1) which should be available online. This form is completed by you and brought to the SWA officer along with the SWA3 (Rent Supplement application form).
