Renovations in Berlin

I have sourced a building in Berlin that needs renovation work. Approx 200k renovations - 16 average sized apartments. Anyone with experience of having done this? Am considering contracting to German firm and also my brother might go out there for 3 months. Any experience on reliability of German contractors, foreign workers (Albanian, Polish, etc). Can work be reliably completed on time?

From my experience Berlin workers seem very laid back and I have yet to see anyone in Berlin rushing at anything. This is a problem. However this may also be why the place is the nicest City I have ever visited. This includes both Paris (Parisians!!!) & London (traffic & too many tourists).

There is about 20% unemployment which might explain the pace of the city - nobody is rushing to work. :)

Workers from the new European countries (i.e. Poland, Latvia etc.) don't have the right to work in Germany - unless they set up their own company and work as self employed.

Hi simplyjoe. I had an apt renovated in Berlin. I was happy with the guy that did it but I'm not sure if his company is big enough for the scale you need.
I'll check it out with him & get back to you.
