Renewing Passport: Does a married woman have to provide her marriage cert?

Ive checked the DoFA website but have been unable to determine the answer to the above question.

If you are renewing your passport and are over 18 years of age you only need to submit your expired passport.

It would appear that all she needs is the old passport (which was also in her married name) but there is conflicting information elsewhere on the page which suggests that she might require her marriage cert.

Got this from the citizens information website:

"If the version of the name to be entered on the passport differs other than in language from the version of the name on the birth certificate , you must provide evidence of usage for at least two years, e.g., bank statement, driving licence, credit cards, etc. At least two examples of such evidence should be enclosed with your application. A passport may be issued in the married name of an applicant if a civil marriage certificate is produced."

Thanks Mo3art,

..but I think that information relates to a new passport and not a renewal of an existing passport.

Hmmmm I actually got it from the page on Citizen's information for renewing a passport.....
Here is the link:

If you have a passport and are renewing it in your maiden name the answer is no. If you wish to renew it in your married name you must provide your marriage cert. If it's your first passport and you wish to get it in your married name then you must also provide your marriage cert.

.....If you wish to renew it in your married name you must provide your marriage cert. ....

Thanks for the advice ...but were still confused.

The old (expiring) passport is in her married name.
She wants the new passport to be in her married name.

Ill ring the passport office in the morning and post the outcome here.
