Our health insurance is due for renewal on 1st February. We are a couple of 70 and 68, and various bits are beginning to give a bit of trouble and to creak a little! We are in the Dublin area, and are not looking to downgrade...

Are there any other options we should consider?
Many thanks for any help!

Hi laharna,

Welcome to AAM. While your current plan Control 300 Create is a very good plan, that ticks all the boxes including a private room in a private
hospital, I would be a little concerned about the 'admission excess of 300'. This is payable everytime you are admitted to a private or hi-tech
hospital and if things are beginning to creak and give a bit of trouble, these 300 amounts could add up.

It would be worth considering a plan with a 'capped inpatient excess', this means that there is a maximum excess per year for all private or hi-tech
hospital admissions. So you know where you stand regarding these costs in advance, if they arise.

The following 2 Laya plans are worth considering, with this in mind, details as follows;
1. Laya Simplicity plan; price 1370pa; same hospital cover as before, private or hi-tech excess capped at 100 x 2 max per year for all admissions,
day case excess 50 per procedure. Good day to day cover included, 50% refund for consultants, gp, dental, physio etc upto a max of 7350 per year,
but the first 100 not allowed.

2. Laya Connect Simplicity plan; price 1367pa; same hospital cover as before, private or hi-tech excess capped at 150 x 2 max per year for all
admissions, day case excess 100 per procedure. Good day to day cover included, 50% refund for consultants, gp, dental, physio etc upto a max
refund of 1000 per year, with a 1 euro excess. Note; if you don't use up your 1000 euro allowance for day to day benefits, you can transfer the
unused allowance over to your husband/wife etc. if they are also on this plan.

If a private room in a private hospital is not a priority, the 2 plans Simply Connect @ price 1230pa and Simply Connect plus @ price 1330pa both
have a capped excess. Details in the following link;
