A good alternative which would reduce your excess for Private hospitals would be 'Benefit' for the adults and 'Nurture Plan' for the kids. These are both Irish Life Health plans. The excess for adults would reduce from €500 per claim to €200 per claim on the first two overnight stays in private hospitals. The children's plan covers selected public and private hospitals. All of the specialised children's hospitals are covered but check the hospitals that aren't covered to ensure you wouldn't use any of these. Cardiac procedures are not covered in the Blackrock Clinic or Mater Private on this plan but they are covered in the Beacon.
You can compare these plans to 'Flex 500 Explore' below:

Your annual premium would be:
€958.90 + €958.90 + €169 + €169 + €169 = €2,424.80 / 12 = €202.07 per month. Irish Life Health don't apply interest for paying monthly.
There is a price increase being introduced on 01/11/2019 so I would recommend starting this policy from 31/10/2019 to avoid this price increase.
