renault megane dash light problem

i bought a 1999 renault megane 1.4 rt and since i have bought it three lights have been coming on on the dash (fuel,temp and oil ) the lights flicker and sometimes come on solid and somtimes go off completly also the acceletor has something to do with it as when i push down on it some times it will either make the lights go out or come on full, i dont mind having a go at fixing it but im unsure where to start ,, please help ,

I suggest removing the dash display unit and check connectors behind to make sure they are making good contact.

You remove the dash board by two screws - one under each corner speaker cover. It then just pulls out - held in by a few clips. Once that is out of the way I think the display unit is held in by a couple of torix screws.
