I have a 2005 1.6 petrol Renault Laguna. Although the car is over 5 yrs old, it only has 52,000 km on the clock. Renault recommend changing cam belt after 5 years so need to do it soon. Got a quote from the local dealer - e495 to do the cambelt. They also said that the dephaser should be done around the same time bringing to total bill to over e800. Speaking to one or two people that know a little about cars, they say that the dephaser shouldnt need to be done unless the car is making a racket on start-up - its fine at the moment. Does anybody know what this dephaser is? Should I get both done at the same time?
